As Tom walked through the door, she was standing in the lounge doorway tapping her foot and pointing at her watch.

OK, so he was a few minutes late from work occasionally but did he really need this treatment every time?

She tutted.

He sighed, and hung up his jacket and faced her.

“Mum, I’m seventeen. Give it a rest!”
